'Trump rejected PM Modi's waiver case on Iran curbs'

Washington DC: US President Donald Trump had personally shut down a fierce debate among his aides in April 2019 on additional exemptions for countries like India from US sanctions on Iran oil purchases and ordered wavering officials to "go to zero", former National Security Adviser John Bolton writes in his upcoming book.

Bolton writes that Trump had pointedly "not been sympathetic" to India's case as made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

These deliberations took place around April 18, and on April 21, the United States announced the end of waivers from secondary sanctions for countries that continued to buy Iranian crude, forcing India, a net importer of crude, and others impacted to look for new suppliers.

President Donald Trump's aides have started debating as to what his signature campaign rallies will be like after the Republican's Tulsa rally on June 20 saw swaths of empty blue seats and a vacant overflow venue. People familiar with the issue told CNN that there had been tentative plans to announce another upcoming rally shortly after the one in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Trump's flagship political rallies, however, are now in limbo as some advisers have indicated that it could take weeks or even months before the president attempts another rally. Although no decision has yet been made on how to proceed regarding the Republican's future political events ahead of the 2020 presidential elections.

New Delhi: June 22: An undated video showing a fierce face-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers has emerged days after the deadly face-off at Ladakh.

In the video, a Chinese officer is punched by an Indian jawan as soldiers of both sides brawl and involve in violent fracas after a heated argument. The soldiers were heard saying "go back" and "don't fight" in the video.

The authenticity of the video has not been verified yet. The location where the incident took place is also not known.
